did you decide on this career path?
Through my
internship, I have been providing early intervention services to children
between the ages of 0-10 with different mental, sensory, and physical
developmental disabilities and delays. I have done this work in a clinical and
inclusive classroom setting. In addition
to all of this, I have learned a lot about pregnancy through the reading
semesters that are a part of my internship. This has given me a strong interest
in working with pregnant women and their families. I believe that pregnancy is
one of the most important periods of child development and family development.
I want to support mothers and help them prepare for a life changing event. Overall, I love the work I do and want to
continue to do it as a career.

How do you
think your personal and educational accomplishments have led you to this career
path?
So far my career path has been
based on what I love to do and not so much my personal and educational
accomplishments. Because of this, I am not sure of how they have influenced my
career path.

As of today 12/2/12, the head of
the agency is still determining if I could be hired. In
early
intervention, a practitioner must have a BA and have certain amount of hours working
with children between the ages of 0-3. Additionally, experience working in
various settings is an requirement. All of these things must be met for
certification and a person can only be certified through an agency. If I have
met all of the requirements then I can be granted an interview if the hiring
manager finds me fit to work for the agency

Through my

I just sent my resume to this agency. I did not get a response back from this agency, but this could be because they do not have any DI positions open. In early intervention, an agency can only employ a select number of specialists in each discipline that is on the team. For example, if the state mandates 5 physical therapists, the agency can only employ 5 physical therapists. There is not wiggle room which may make getting an interview in this field very difficult.
